How to choose suitable protective film for stainless steel?

Today we are going to discuss about the protective film for stainless steel.

Most users don’t know details about stainless steel, such as nail holes,

pinhole porosity, dark bone, hoof prints, plate lines, roll marks, uneven

shade, waves, loose side, flower head and so on. To some people, these

may be just small problems, but in the opinion of stainless steel salesmen,

these problems are fatal. In order to prevent the surface from being

scratched, we have to use protective films to protect the stainless steel.

Protective films for stainless steel are divided into several kinds. The

most famous is the fish mouth shape protective film, which is also known

as protective film printed with SUS304. There are also other kinds, such

as milky white protective film, blue protective film, black and white

protective film, laser-cut protective film and so on. The prices of stainless

steel protective film is affected by the thickness. The thicker the film, the

higher the price. The thicker the film, the better protection it can provide

to the stainless steel surface.

Protective films also vary according to different adhesion, for example, low

tack, medium tack and high tack. The adhesion is decided by the different

finishing of stainless steel products. For example, wire drawing and matte

stainless steel mainly use medium tack protective film. Snowflake sand

stainless steel normally requires high tack protective film because only high

adhesion can stick on the snowflake sand grains. 8K plate (mirrored stainless

steel plate) only requires low tack protective film. There is also a specialty

called Laser-cut protective film. Stainless steel with laser-cut protective film

will be processed on laser cutting machine, in which there are sparks and

wind, so the laser-cut protective film has high requirement. Thickness of

laser-cut protective film is normally up to 70 microns to 100 microns so that

it can bear the damage. And the adhesion of laser-cut protective film should

be high enough to prevent the film fall off during the laser process.

Color steel plate protection film

Color steel plate protection film, to put it simply, is a kind of plastic thin film coated with adhesive. Normally it is applied on the surface of color steel plate before roll forming and provides protection to the color steel during installation and transportation. In order to know it more, following are some technical functions of color steel plate protection film.

1, Paste performance test: It can be easily pasted on object surfaces. No residue leaves on the surface after it is peeled off.

a. Bending with substrate in 90 degree, the film has no break and doesn’t fall off.

b. Leave no residue on the paint film surface after being peeled off.



2, Load test: 360 hours under the temperature of 25℃-50℃, the film bears the load of /SPCM2. After being peeled off, there is no residue on substrate’s surface.



3, UV resistance aging test: Under the temperature of 50℃, be irradiated for 60 hours by 300w ultraviolet lamp, the film keeps its shape. No residue after being peeled off.



4, Moisture resistance aging test: 60℃ + 80% for 240 hours, the film doesn’t fall off and there is no residue or corrosion after being peeled off.
